Duck eggs day 27

This is a photo of the closest one to the side I could candle, does this look normal? I’m still nervous to remove them while they’re wiggling. But I will. I also THINK I might see a tiny crack in one that has been the most active.

It looks normal but from that angle I can’t tell if it has internally pipped. Candling at this point is mainly for your peace of mind so if you don’t want to do it you certainly don’t need to

Thank you so much for the link, however unprepared it makes me feel. Lol. If it doesn’t make any difference in the long run I believe I will just let them be and supervise.

None so far, they’re still moving around though. I’m losing hope a bit but we will see what happens.

At what point should I give up?

Don’t give up yet! Your hatch may be delayed due to low temperature from an inaccurate thermometer.

I would candle them all, and give safety holes to all the eggs that have internal pips. You can read how in that article I linked. If an egg doesn’t have an internal pip, check it carefully for bruising outside the air cell area. It could be trying to pip in the wrong place

I candled all of them, there is movement but nothing that screamed out being as obvious as the pip photo in the article. I also couldn’t hear anything when I put them up to my ear. One has what appears could be this bruising you speak of.

For that bruised one, I would take a screw or drill bit and make a tiny hole in the center of the bruise. Don’t use a power tool of course, just hold the screw or bit and scratch or twist until you have a tiny hole.

This is my egg on day 26. It had a bruise (I circled it to monitor the area) so I put a safety hole in the middle of the bruise, and about 12 hours later it had pipped right by my safety hole.

I tried to twist a tiny hole into the bruise before I had to leave for work, but it was very hard and I was nervous about applying too much pressure. I’ll work on it again once I get home tonight. As far as the other ones, should I attempt the same thing?
