I knew my Muscovy duck was sitting on eggs, but not too sure when she set them and guested they would hatch on or around the 27th April. On Tuesday 21 when my husband went to let the hens out of the hen house, he was greeted by 5 little ducklings and a hissing mum. I went to inspect her nest and found an egg stone cold lying on the floor outside the nest and 7 eggs still in the nest almost cold, but thought I would put them in my incubator with the chicken eggs that were due to hatch on the 27th, in truth I didn't think the duck eggs had any hope of hatching, but on Wednesday morning one of the duck eggs started to crack, so I made a big decision to take all the eggs off the cradle 2 days early, not knowing how this will effect the hatching success of the bantam chicken eggs, by Wednesday evening we had 4 beautiful, healthy little ducklings and on day 19 the chicks have started to peep.
