Duck eggs taken from feral duck, now in my bator, how to tell if they are good?

One of the eggs WIGGLED when in the water!

So now its a waiting game to see if any come out of their eggs.

Despite a truly HORIBLE smell from the bator we have 4 ducklings this morning!

Wheeeeeeeee!

So far we have three in good condition, one with a slightly crooked bill, one with a twisted neck - it looks to be straightening out - and one with splay legs.

When and how does one tape up splay legs?

Look up splayed leg hobbles. They can be made out of strips of band aids, athletic tape, or vet wrap. It can be tricky. We had a gosling who we couldnt hobble so we just gave her therapy by making her swim in a pool with water deep enough for her feet to touch the bottom. She was imprinted on humans so we would just walk around the pool 4 or 5 times and she would do laps in the pool. She strengthened her legs and was able to walk.

The hobbles fell off but the duckling is fine. They are soooo cute!

So happy they hatched! Got any pics of the cuties?

Sadly, no. My computer doesn't work anymore (am on friends computer now) so I cant do pictures. Hopefully I can get it fixed soon and be back in picture posting land again.

Craigs List adds don't work anywhere NEAR as good without pictures!

I am finding that Muscovy ducklings are much nicer than Pekin ducklings, neater and cleaner and calmer.

Guess 6 is my lot as no more movement from the eggs left in the bator. I might float test and see if any wiggle but, with the smell from in there, I think all the rest must be dead.
