Duck eggs too soft

I have had Ducks for a couple of years, all males! Unfortunately all but one of them were killed by predators. Two months ago I acquired 2 females. Today I found three eggs. Two were normal and 1 is soft. These are my first Duck eggs. I am curious to know if I can eat the soft one? Also should I add a supplement to their food?

I'm sure it is fine to eat the soft one but I usually don't. It doesn't have a very protective shell so it could have absorbed things for the coop like bacteria possibly. I would give them more calcium. You can add crushed oyster shell, crush up their own egg shells, or buy a feed higher in calcium. Also check out egg deformities articles on this site to learn more about why it happened.

Oh, if you haven't done so already, PLEASE put at least your general location in your profile. It could be very important if/when you ask for or offer help or advice. You know, climate issues and such. I recommend at least your state as most folks won't be able to figure out where if you put anything more specific (county, town, street, etc) by itself. Old folks like me will never remember & look there first. To add it, mouse hover over Account top right and a drop down will appear. Click on Personal Details and scan down.
