This is a two part question
First of all I believe my Rouen ducks are laying and they are small and so like my polish eggs we can’t tell them a part. My daughter went to cook a “ polish white egg” and said there was something wrong with it it tasted nasty and strong and the yolk was to dark
But why are they the size of my polish chicken eggs?? I thought duck eggs were big?

second question
All of a sudden my ducks are beating up
This one chicken , I mean badly . I’ll go in the morning and she’ll be all bloody with lots of missing head feathers
I washed it and put bro’s por in on it and I thought it was the chickens or the Roo but three times now we’ve caught the ducks chasing her down and being vicious to her
So today I isolated her again
They’ve been together since they were babies
Why would they just turn on her?
we have two drakes two ducks
27 chickens and two Roos
In a pen and a coop with plenty of space and boxes

Hormone most likely. Makes them moody and hateful. separate them chickens on one side ducks on the other because they may start in on another. What breed is the one they are going after?

As for egg size they do get larger as the lay longer. But as for taste and the way it looked I don't know. None on meds and this was a fresh egg? sometimes so0mething they ate can change the look and taste of an egg. What all do you feed?

Well duck eggs are richer and the yolk brighter I’ve heard so I figured it’s a duck egg but I’m not sure
The ducks are Rouen that are laying then two mix breed drakes or runner drakes the jury’s still out on that one they eat all flock then oyster shell and grit and some scratch and leafy greens fruits and vegetables
They are getting more frisky trying to flirt and mate but idky they attack that chicken
It’s a white crested polish young hen just starting to lay
They’ve all gotten along before

Yes they got along then comes hormones and they dynamics changes. Plus drakes penned with chickens can even mate and kill hens. Mine all sleep in the same coop but my chickens are roosting my ducks are on the floor. Muscovy roost in warm weather but chickens stay off the roost they are on. No problems But they are not penned together they wander on a half acre fenced and I am sure that is probably why I don't have problems other than some moody female Muscovy who like to grab hold of a LF hen is she gets too close. Is this chicken they are attacking the only Polish?

My chicken eggs are so hard to crack I thought one was boiled one day lol so that don’t work for me and no that polish is one of twenty

Well are you sure she isn't sick? I doubt she is but just trying to rule out why just her? Okay next time you collect try the scratch test usually the bloom on duck eggs you can scratch off with your nail it's waxy . Do all your chickens roost?

When my dads rouens stated laying the eggs we about 58 grams each. Duck eggs have a thick shell and an extra thick membrane. If she just cracked it into the pan without issue it was probably a chicken egg.
