My dog found a wild duck egg and brought to the house whick has been cracked but has a have devoloped duckling .Can I save it or not? and do I need to get the other eggs before she tries to eat them? and can I finish what momma duck does so well?

You might be able to save it if you put it in an incubator, but keeping wild animals, including ducks is illegal. The mother duck probably left the nest for a few minutes to get food or water, or your dog simply scared her away. This is likely when your dog stole the egg. Do not take the eggs unless you know that the mother duck has been killed. keep your dog on a leash to prevent it from stealing more eggs. Taking animals from the wild is not a good practice to follow, even if what you are doing seems like the right thing to do. If you decide to take the eggs and incubate them take the ducklings after they hacth to a wildlife rehabber so they can be released when they are ready.

I know about it being illegal to keep wildlife,I worked at a vets and wildlife rehab. These are mallards that adopted us and we feed along with the two white duck that showed up two years ago.We have a large creek and my dog was on our land.we would let the duckling go right here when they were big enough.I think she went back to her next but I hope she will keep sitting on them.
