I am new to this site and have a question regarding duck eggs. Normally we hatch chicks but are about to hatch our first ducks! I noticed recently that one of our eggs has been placed inside the incubator with the small end facing out. Was thinking that in nature a mother duck may not know the difference in direction and this may be ok. Unfortunately we are on day 26 heading into 27 and wonder if I should leave it or turn it inwards?

Could it be that it's already externally pipped? Mine pipped day 26 and 27. I would leave it alone

No, don't think it's pipped yet, probably right. Just wasn't sure if turning it inward would hurt the duckling before it hatches.

So we were at 28 days of our incubation last night and only a small amount of rocking from one of our duck eggs. Temp and humidity all seem to be fine! Is it common for (Indian runners) ducks to take an extra 24 hours on either end of this 28 day estimate?
