Duck enclosure

I have a 6week old duck and shes my baby but i cant put her around other ducks because shes aggressive and pulls out their feathers so im building her an enclosure but it rains alot where i live and im wondering whats a good and safe bedding or mulch type material i can put at the bottom of her pin so that the ground wont stay muddy

I would put the enclosure up on a short platform, 4 inches tall, cover the bottom with coated metal hardware cloth, put plenty of shavings over that (maybe an old towel or washable carpet remnant on top of the hardware cloth (which is wire mesh), and put a roof over her enclosure.
