I plan on keeping my 11 ducklings in a 3 acre enclosure when they get old enough. They’d be protected by our 4 livestock dogs. They have already met them and aren’t aggressive and are very friendly towards the ducks. They’ll have access to 2 water sources they can swim in. They’ll be sleeping in our barn with electricity along with our other livestock. Does this sound like an okay environment for them?

3 acre enclosure with 4 livestock guardian dogs sounds pretty secure. There is always still the chance of a predator but sounds like yours will be okay as long as your aware. Even if we kept them inside a small enclosure doesn’t always mean a predator can’t breach. As for the barn will they be in their own stall which will be fully enclosed also. Not chicken wire?

Do your dogs react properly to hawks and other raptors? Just wondering because some dogs are great with terrestrial predators, but don't recognize the flying ones as a threat. I've had both types of dogs.

Other than that possibility, it sounds like duck heaven.

Definitely could be a possibility, I’ll have to take that into consideration. :)

How in the world are you going to "test" that out? Hopefully someone knows!
I never said test it out. I’m just saying I’ll have to think about it. I’d never want to put my ducks in harms way. I’m just saying I’ll have to give it some thought and come up with a solution. :)
