I have a duck that appears to have been scratched, her eye lid is scratched and I do see a scratch on her eyeball as well. Eye eye is open and everything looks normal except for the cut on her eyelid and the scratch on her eye. No cloudiness at the moment, she can open and close it. This happened maybe 1 hour from now, happened around 1pm today, it is 2 now. We researched about terramycin - is this safe to put on her eye to help healthing process and endure there is no infection? Should we keep her out of the coop? We are pretty sure it was a cat, as I saw one in the yard right before we noticed her eye. It is very possible there are other things she could’ve cut it on, we are going to do a heavy scan of the back yard just in case there is something that’s appeared after all the winter weather. Should we use the terranycin on her eye as there is a cut on her eye lid and on her cornea. Is this safe to use for ducks? We have read if ingested it is toxic. But topically seems to be okay?

@kbgrover welcome to BYC!
Would you be able to post a picture so we can see the extent of damage?
I would advice getting her inside or at least in a safe space until you have a definite answer on what caused this!

@Wyorp Rock do you have knowledge of eye injuries?
