I have a male and female mallard duck. I have had the male since he was a duckling but just got the female a week ago and she was sitting on eggs then but they didn't have a male so the eggs werent fertile. She has laid two eggs in the past two days but they are white and kinda thin looking. I thought that hen mallards laid green tinted egg. Does that mean they aren't fertile? I haven't seen the male try to breed with her and they are in their own seperate pen. Any ideas? Thanks!

It will take 2 or 3 weeks at least for her eggs to be fertile. The color of the egg shell has nothing to do with fertility, not every Mallard will lay a green egg. Cayugas are supposed to lay black eggs, mine lays white eggs.

If her eggshells seem thin, give her oyster shell or crush up eggshells and feed them back to her.
