Hello Everyone, hope all is well and safe!
There might be a thread of this but have not seem to found what I’m looking for that are detailed or as informative as I would like. I will continue my research but I thought I would reach out if I missed anything else :highfive:
Link threads, articles, book suggestions that may help with my questions below!
(Gotcha Day: 1/19/21 & 3 weeks in of caring for our duckling)

What store bought food is safe for our duckling to have for right now & as he gets older? (So I don’t need to change his food consistently as he grows)

What type of fruits and veggies can he eat & what age can he start eating them? (I know that bananas, strawberries, green peas, and corn can be fed but I also read that spinach is bad for them)

What supplements should I incorporate into his diet? (I’ve read niacin and Nutritional brewers yeast is essential & I plan on adding eggshells for calcium)

Do you know the sex of your duckling?
Duck pellets will suffice no matter the gender and age of your duck, as long as it contains a good amount of niacin. Niacin and brewers yeast supplements aren't necessary if you buy duck feed. Spinach and other veggies and fruits are ok in small amounts. Do not give calcium until, if your duck is female, starts laying eggs.

I do plan on posting pictures soon in a different thread for the gender determination

Thank you! This I did not know, we think our duckling is a male but have yet to determine that. I will be posting pictures soon in a different thread to help with that as well

Purina duck pellets are formulated to be a good feed from babies to adult ducks, if you have a feed store or tsc near you that carries them is a good option. I use Mazuri feed for my ducks, its what my vet recommended, but it is pricey compared to others.

I feed Purina duck pellets because it’s good for any age but plan to try Mazuri. You might want to get a friend a or two for your duck, he or she is a flock animal and will be happiest with duck friends. Good luck.
