Hello I live in a 4 season state and was wondering if anyone has built a small lean-to or hut just to keep their food dry? I don't put food/water in their actual big hut this is for when they are outside roaming during the day. Their food bowls get full of water with rain and snow covered in winter. Thoughts?

Thanks
Renee

I'm in NE Florida. I keep my duck feed in a large round aluminum can with tightly fitting lid. It stands at the side of my house under a corrugated plastic roof. It has survived several bad storms. I think it was in Hurricane Matthew that the sheets of corrugated plastic blew away, but otherwise it has been fine and easily repaired. Open on three sides, the house wall is behind.

I keep the bulk of it in the garage...was looking for something for their food bowls outside that they eat out of.

I have long overhangs on my roof. I put my ducks food bowls against the house on the sheltered NW side of the house. That is all I need to protect the bowls except for the very occasional day when the wind and rain blows in from the west. Then, I put cardboard boxes from Aldi, that have a cut out on the front, over the bowls. When I first did thst, my ducks had no trouble realizing their food was under the boxes. They are adept at putting their heads inside to get to the food.
