Duck food

Just wondering what everyone feeds their ducks! I have 2 jumbo pekins that have been eating starter food, but I've been interested in feeding them duck pellets, thoughts or suggestions ? Thanks!

What duck pellets are you considering? Whatever you decide on, be sure to pick something that contains enough niacin for ducks.

Mine are on Purina Duck pellets and seem to be doing well and love it. I think the problem is that some people have a hard time finding the 40 lb bags of it. I have a TSC that does and one that doesn't carry it. I have also used waterfowl pellets from a local farmers co-op.

I'm impatiently waiting for my TSC to get in the 40lb bags of Purina Duck pellets. They are new and are made specifically for ducks with all the niacin etc. I'm out of layer pellets and I am going to make a run to the only TSC in the area that does have the big bags tomorrow. @Runner duck mom has been giving them to her 5 and her ducks love it too.

We can't wait for our TSC to get the big bags in and it's taking forever but they are coming. They have the little 5lb bags already and the big bags are on order! $15.99 for a 40lb bag or $5.99 for a 5lb bag. Do the math, it's crazy! Adds up to $48 for 40lbs if you get the little bags.

I feed Mazuri waterfowl breeder. My local feed store doesn't carry it, but they can easily order it for me. It is expensive, but I don't mind since my ducks are pets. They do really well on it. Much better than when I fed them Purina layer pellets. They were on the thin side with the Purina, and are appropriately filled out on the Mazuri. Plus it floats on water, so I can feed them in their water buckets and they LOVE that!
