Duck foot abscess

Once you evaluate his foot there may be no need to put him in confinement unless there is an open wound.

Soaks would be a good idea on both. If you can hold Angus in there for 15 mins you will deserve a medal. Mine will stay put with out a fight maybe close to 10.

Has the swelling gone down on Lucy's foot?

The swelling has gone down on Lucy's foot, but she is still stumping along. She is moving much better though. She appears to have gone broody at about the same time, so Martha and Lucy are both wandering around with their heads hunched in making that kind of annoying/kind of adorable sort of quack.

Saw this post when needed. Unfortunately, advise appeared not given.
I therefore had to resort to measures under the guidance of my friend and vet.
Duck had absess that homeopathic and non surgical ways were not working. Bumblefoot spreads quickly to uninfected toes then leg, once st leg it's gone too far.
To remove abscess you will need sharp, clean razor, Betadine, clean housing for bird to recoup, antibiotic, if available to you, food and water with probiotics.
Cut deeper then you think, no harm, no foul. No pun intended.
Abscess may be very hard, white matter. Squeeze hard, if no result then cut not deep enough. Once matter is removed, think of a stubborn pimple, clean/soak with Betadine. Do not wrap. Let foot bleed, keep clean and do not wrap. Do not puncture with needle to lance!!! You only create another site for infection.., just like humans.
Good luck. Worse case scenario...food or stock. Part of life as farmer.
