I have a runner duck a little over a year old who seems perfectly healthy and happy most all of the time. She is eating well, playing and all of her usual duck stuff. She also leaves us an egg every morning.
She's had 3 or 4 episodes in the last several weeks where her legs will start to shake, she will have some trouble walking and put her tail down to balance herself and then lay down. Once she has rested for 5 or 10 mins she is totally fine. This usually happens when we first let everyone out to free range in the afternoons after getting home from work (they are usually out for an hour or so each day).
They are very excited and run around a lot when they are first let out. It has been hot and humid here in Georgia. I'm wondering if it is the heat combined with lots of running around and her legs are getting cramped up or some kind of vitamin deficiency?
I've been adding extra niacin (flush free) to their feed a couple times a week since this started and also have B complex but have not given any yet. She has free acces to oyster shell and they get some fresh veggies daily.
Our other 3 ducks aren't having any issues at all and this only seems to be bothering her for a short time.
She is the duck on the far right in the picture...(she is my favorite, just don't tell the other ducks i said that)
Any help would be greatly appreciated :) Thanks in advance. 0627181622q~2.jpg

Try her on the BComplex for a few days to see if it makes a difference. If it helps keep her on it a week. Sometime being low in calcium can also cause shaky legs in our laying females so might want to go by TSC and pick up some calcium gluconate to have on hand if the B complex doesn’t help. I know with my Runners they can get depleted of calcium with their heavy laying and cal glu really helps.mine get oyster shell too but sometimes they just need an extra boost

Thank you! I will try this and go to TSC tomorrow to pick that up and start on the B complex. She does eat a bunch of oyster shell but I am constantly amazed at the size of her eggs since she's a pretty small duck. She was one of my first, just started with ducks a year ago and they are the best :)
