Hi guys!

We have been noticing one duck hasn't been laying in the coop.
Today, she went missing and she was under a shelter sitting on a clutch of eggs!!
I don't know what to do as I really don't have room for anymore ducklings and I need to put her in at night save a fox getting her but she's gets quite aggressive when I go near the nest...

What do you guys suggest I do?

Jessica

I suggest to remove her take the eggs dispose of them tear up the nest and put something there so she doesn't go back. It's a hard decision but one that needs to be made she'll get over it and she'll be safe from predators and you'll not have ducklings. I doubt they have started to develop yet so it's safe to toss them. Don't wait too long, oh and if she goes in tonight you can do all the above while she is inside if she doesn't go in on her own then you'll just have to step in. I've had to do it honestly it is for the best. Way too many preds to let them nest outside in the open. And I am not letting mine hatch ducklings either.

Thanks Lydia.
Thats a really good idea.. I will do it when she is in the coop so she doesn't see.
I feel so so bad about it but you're right. .there is no way I can leave her at night and I just can't have any more ducklings.

Poor Sybil duck :(

Ok so, I went to put her to bed and she wouldn't get off her nest. She whimpered every time I went to get her.

Me being a soft touch didn't have the heart to do it, so we have blocked her under the shelter with fence posts to stop foxes getting in .

My dad and boyfriend are building enclosures so she will have her own space when they hatch. Thing is.. I can't keep anymore so I will have to sell them .. Will she cry if I take her ducklings away from her? I am going to be overrun with ducks!!! :(

She is fantastic thank you!!
Been meaning to upload a photo of her and her little pal.
I have put them outside now in a coop with their brooder lamp.. I was in tears doing it but they are so much happier now and have so much more room!

Growing way too fast! Will upload some photo's tomorrow for you :) x

Can you let her keep them for a couple weeks by then she'll not be as upset with them leaving. If you can't she'll be sad but she'll get over it.
