Ok I have one duck who piped on wrong side and I assisted out last night. He still has bottom of shell attached and some yolk left. What do I need to do? 2nd duck pipped last night and I think is slowly making progress, at what point do I intervene? Last, 3rd egg has not pipped yet. I know there was still movement 2 nights ago and the air cell in this one is a little smaller than the other 2. Is there anything I need to do for this one? Thanks for any help!

I had a peacock hatch with a piece of shell stuck. I carefully moistened the area with a cotton swab until I could get it off little bits at a time. Work slowly and carefully.
I think, hard as it is, patience is required rather than intervening.
Hopefully others will come on with additional advice.

I'm more worried about the yolk not absorbed than the shell, but I think we may be progressing

you should be! Take a small container like a little plastic thing that butter comes in and put a dry paper towel in it and lay the duckling and the shell in there. You don't want it to be able to move all around with that yolk not all the way absorbed. Put it in the brooder near the lamp. When the yolk is gone you'll know.

As for the second egg. Can you see if the bill is in the air cell? If so it's probably fine. On the 3rd egg you might want to make an emergency hole.

Here is a link to everything you need to know about assisted hatching. It's awesome!

Ok, well shell is off #1, he's doing ok at the moment.
I can't see in the air cell in #2 without taking it out the incubator, but the pip is over the air cell.
How do I put a hole in #3? I will candle for movement in a bit.

You take a wood screw and very very gently put a tiny hole in the shell over the air cell. I thought that was on the article I sent you. Maybe its not I'll have to look at it tomorrow.
