Yesterday I relocated the majority of our flock to a new home. Two hens stayed behind, they are destined for a
different location. One of our hens is very very upset, and she keeps dipping her head low whenever I approach
(she actually is doing this often, even when I am not coming near - it just seems like she does it more...). She is quacking VERY
loudly and sounds angry. The other hen has taken the move in stride, it seems.
Question: Does the upset hen"s behavior sound like she's lost her mate????
These ducks are only 3 mos. old.
There was a pair of ducks that seemed like they might have become a couple - but not yet mating or laying...
one was a brown hen and I thought i sent the correct hen along with the rest of the flock. Now I am concerned that this hen's behavior (the one I am asking about) is so extreme because she's been seperated from her mate. Any thoughts??
(she does look bigger that the 'married' hen, so I keep going back and forth about whether I goofed with the selection...)
Thanks!
