DUCK HERDING is a sport?! O.O

Try your hand at googling Indian runner ducks dressed up, which is something I stumbled upon when going down my initial rabbit hole of research. 😂

apparently it’s a big thing in Australia

but yeah I think that runners are a good sub in herding competition because they have a strong flocking instinct. It’s interesting and I’ve been watching training videos to get my dog doing the basic commands. She loses interest quickly though
Thanks for that! I never would have googled this and it made my day!

@DuckyDonna , what a lovely old girl.

If it makes you feel better, it's pretty unlikely she was dumped. Anatolians and Pyrs are famous for roaming. In their native environment, they guard huge flocks and cover hundreds of acres. I've had more than one end up at my place when I lived down south where everyone with 5 acres and 3 chickens gets one. Sometimes you can find the owner, sometimes you can't. One sweetie who fell madly in love with my goats I found a nice home on 150 acres with a big herd the 4th or 5th time she showed up - poor girls owner had given up trying to keep her home and didn't even get around to asking me about her for almost 3 months so I don't feel bad about it.

I think some of them just wander until they find the right farm. ;) And you were it.

That is true. The one problem we had with her was her "wandering" down the street. She never went far but she did freak out the neighbors at first. Thankfully we don't have that many neighbors and they all knew her. "oh, that's just ole' Honeybear, she won't bother you". She really wasn't having any part of anyone walking or bicycling past our house! Now, for an old girl she could run like the wind when she saw that violation!
