We have so many options and ideas for our duck house but I cannot decide which to go with. I have an old Step 2 kids playhouse. I plan to put hardwire/chicken wire over the windows and during the winter plan to cover the window and open an upper vent. Will this work!?

Welcome to BYC

I don't know what a Step 2 kids play house is but if you can make it predator proof under neath , windows and doors and on the roof then I'd say it would work. Think like a predator if there is an opening any where a hole as small as 1" a predator like a mink can get in. If there is not a solid floor they can dig under. Windows covered in hardware cloth and vents also. Duck need good ventilation in their house they will sleep in A way for heat to escape through the roof or around the top up at the roof. and good ventilation with windows, never close up your house even during the winter or frost bite can happen. You'll need more than one upper vent I keep top windows open facing south during winter.

Like Miss Lydia said as long as you can predator proof the bottom and windows I think it would work great. Those things last forever and if it is a playhouse that already has a bottom even better. I have seen people use them for chickens online but I think it would work out better for ducks.
