Space is plenty big. Ours is open with straw on the bottom. No nest boxes. Our girls created their own nest out of the straw. I don’t put food (or water) in the coop unless it’s going to rain and the food will get gross outside. We had one time we had to put them up super early and so we left them food and water in the coop and they made a HUGE mess.
