Duck hurt his private's

This may sound crazy but this morning I noticed my male call duck, spot's boy part hanging out his vent, the first 1 inch ish, I picked him up to have a look and the tip is a grey colour
He is really lively and happy eating drinking swimming, you would not know from his behaviour there was anything wrong

I am in the process of moving to ireland, in England I had the best vet ever they would see my ducks and even had a duck specialist that came in some days, here in ireland we don't have that, we talked to the vets we are using for our dogs but the said they don't see ducks, they recommend we call another vet who they said had a duck specialist, we called them and no they don't have a specialist but they said send a picture and they will have a look (we are waiting on their call now)

What do you think his chances of survival are?
And is there anything I can do for him?

Coat the penis with an antibiotic ointment. Sometimes it will retract on its own. Other times it will become necrotic and need to be trimmed. It is generally not a fatal situation.

We took him to the vet and oh my god I hated the vet he just did no talking no telling us what he was doing or what he wanted to do
I just hated him
My poor baby he was so scared

He took spot back to do an operation and would call us when he was done

Oh I just hope he is okay

The vet probably removed the part that was out. It's done when it's necrotic or if it won't retract on it's own. He won't be the first duck it's happened to. I expect he will recover and be fine.

We will call first thing in the morning to find out when we can pick him up

We called this morning and the vets said the surgery went well but his penis was not staying in so they put some stitches in, but he was hungry so they asked us to bring him some food

We called just now and they said he got the stitches out and they are doing another surgery to replace them and will call us once it is done (if they will call who knows)

Their lack of communication is really annoying me they have not called once to tell us what is going on or asked us if this is what we want to happen I just want everything to work and him to come home

and this morning they fed him bread! I know it is not going to kill him but bread is not good for ducks! ugh I'm sorry I just have alot going on at the moment

Hopefully he will be home soon

I am so happy, I feel like crying, it's been really hard recently but he's coming home

The vet said they had to amputated loads off! But he is doing well
