Duck Info For Beginners

Oh also just another good thing to keep in mind about ducks in general you will want 3-4 females per male so if you are only going to get 3 or 4 you could do 1 male and 3 females or just 3-4 females but it generally won't go well if the drakes don't have enough girls.
Thank you! I have all female chickens, so I probably won't get a drake just because I've read that if they try to mount the hens, they can get injured.

I have Indian Runner ducks and chickens . They each have there own coop and runs but share free range area . For the most part they get along now . The Chickens come and mingle with the duck in there run often . The hardest part is keeping enough fresh open water for them to drink . They drink alot (spilling half of it )and can Not have dry food without water close by . Our ducks are a tonne of fun and are great bug hunters . But like chicken can make one heck of a mess just a different mess .

How do you keep your duck house clean? And what do you use for bedding? Thanks!
Most people use pine shavings and/or straw I use both I put pine shavings on the floor of the coop and fill little nesting boxes with straw. Then when it gets too dirty I just sweep it out, and every couple weeks I take the big pile of pine and straw and shovel them into my trashcan.

Thank you! What color eggs do your runners lay? I have definitely read that ducks are messy haha! Do you use tubs for their water?
