I went out to feed the ducks and my duck Belle was wandering kind of listlessly by herself looking off. I went to check on her and her neck up by her throat is very swollen with what looks like 2 puncture wounds. She hasn't made a sound so I'm wondering if she can quack. Also there is the mark of a line across her throat almost like her head was stuck in the fence. Any idea what could have caused this, and what can I do for her?

Poor girl, is she drinking? I'd suggest keeping her in a warm quiet place while she recovers a bit, in case she's in shock.

Thank you, yes, I put her in a warm bathtub and she did drink, and also dunked her head but slowly, as if it hurt her to move it much. She made some quacking noises but without opening her mouth.

Could she have gotten her head caught in fencing? 2 puncture wounds sound like a predator bite. I'd wash her wounds out real good with warm saline water. Put some antibiotic ointment on her and keep her inside so you can monitor her eating and drinking. You probably should either pluck or clip her feathers away from the wounds. And if possible get some good pictures. Poor baby girl.

It's possible, or I wondered if a predator tried to pull her through, or it also could have maybe been a hawk who tried to grab her head ☹️. When I washed her neck I didn't actually see puncture holes so hopefully it's just scratches. I'm worried about the swelling.

Is she able to eat and drink?
I don't have food in with her because I don't usually give them food after dark, but she was drinking water from the bathtub.

She's one of my sweetest ducks and very bonded to one of the drakes. When she had bumblefoot he got upset whenever I took her to the house for treatment, so I started letting him follow us up and he supervised her until I let him have her back. She follows him around all day. I hope she'll be alright.

I would allow feed abc water of having her inside
I don’t give mine water or feed either when I put them to bed but I just had one that needed to see a vet and that night I brought her in as I did baths and gave her a crate with feed and water just outside it
My girl is very good so I didn’t need fencing around her she stayed in that area on her own
If a predator did try ti get her she may be in shock and need dark warm area

I couldn't come up with a good place to have her sleep inside, we have 3 big dogs and I don't have a garage or a good secluded place to put her. I went ahead and gave her a closed crate inside the coop with shavings and food and water. She seemed to be doing okay, she was walking around with the other ducks when I checked on her and acting fairly normal other than her neck was still swollen and stiff.
