So update to this….
Consulted with rehabber and raccoon was handled without killing it. But another one got into my pen last night and killed one of my ducks.
And it was brutal. Last few were just taken off or eaten and left relatively clean. This one’s foot was bitten off, head ripped off, feathers everywhere. Very brutal attack.
I had reinforced my pen last time. New fencing along all sides including the top. But I can not find where it got in. No gaps, no tears, the fencing along the bottom isn’t dug up. Fencing on the top had no tears or gaps.
So going to put the trap out again today and see what happens
