Duck laid 5 eggs at once?!?!

Our Rouen duck is new to us. She had been laying an egg a day, but with the stress of moving, hadn't laid at all in a week. Today, we went to feed them in the morning and the nest that had been empty had 5 eggs in it. Could this be normal? She is tiny, I can't imagine that is good for her.

Sounds like she was hiding them from you. A duck cannot lay 5 eggs in a day. It's just not possible. Every once in a while they will lay 2 in a day but even that isn't all the common. Since you said you hadn't gotten any for a week and you found them all today, she was hiding them.

I agree. They like to cover them with leaves or bedding materials.

They have been housed in a coop, where we had been searching through the straw and shavings each day. There was nothing there the night before, and 5 eggs clustered together in the straw in the morning.
