Hey all, I have a broody duck who has been sitting for well over a month. I candled the eggs and they are developing, I did not see any rings of death. For the last 5 or 6 days she has been sitting and not leaving the nest as if she were on lockdown. Still no ducklings..... how long is normal for ducks to be on "lockdown"? Should I candle the eggs? How should I proceed? Never had a broody duck before! Thanks!

I personally would see what's going on. After eggs hatch hens will sit tight for a few days, but than the ducklings need to eat by day 2, and you should see them peeking out looking for food and water. Are you sure she isn't getting off when you aren't around? Is this a staggered hatch?
