Duck Layer Feed - How long?

I am new to ducks. The girls will be transitioning to layer feed in another six weeks or so (I think!). I am expecting them to start laying around September 14. Given that I am not going to use artificial light, will they lay? They are supposed to be on maintenance feed when they are not laying but when is that? These are Metzer Layers so their production is high so I am confused as to when they should not be eating the layer feed. Any help is appreciated!

Not eating layer feed (high calcium) when they are not building egg shells (no need for high calcium).
