Duck Layer Pellets

Yes, absolutely just adored precious pets! I'm don't even eat eggs. I only want what is best for them.
i have 3 drakes and 2 hens so i couldn’t get the layers feed, so which mazuri is best for both genders? i feed my girls oyster shells, egg shells, and fly grubs for calcium.

I also just have my ducks as pets, I probably never would've switched to the Mazuri if my girl didn't start to have her egg laying issues, but I'm glad I did and I'll keep buying it because my vet recommended it and my ducks just seem to like it more.
a few of my ducks don’t eat anything that’s the shape of mazuri, so how do u transition? everytime i get them these treats that are like the same shape/size/texture they won’t eat them unless crushed up (even though they LOVE them)

Maintenance, for both genders eating together.

If you keep them separated I would buy both and feed your laying girls the breeder and the boys the maintenance. My vet was very insistent my laying ducks need laying food. That it has more than just calcium you can supplement them. I have 2 girls who lay eggs and one girl who doesn't. I separate them for feeding time.

I'm happy to discuss this further, but perhaps you could PM me? I think we've gone a bit off topic.

I use half of the purina duck pellets and mix it with their layer pellets and they love it!!
A waterfowl layer pellet is more ideal than the Purina pellets mixed with chicken layer pellets, if that's what you were trying to ask with this thread.

I had not heard of mazuri before but it's out of my price range anyways for 9 ducks. After getting T/S to get 40lb bags of Purina I also mix that with a 50lb bag of 16% Dumor layer pellets. Along with supplements, their daily cabbage and dry cat food for treats during the winter months our 8 hens and 1 drake are doing fine.

They are on the purina duck feed and the MannaPro Duck and Goose layer pellets I also have a grey goose, I just wanted to see what others had to say about, but my girls have been on a waterfowl since ducklings!

Our ducks are always suspicious of new things. When we switched over to the Mazuri, they gave it a wide birth at first. We did a few days of mixing it with their old food, and they transitioned very quickly.

My game plan for this year after all the advise and then doing allot of reading. and allot of birds to feed.
Hatchlings Mazuri Starter for first few weeks then as soon as the get close to feather stage switch to Purina. my reasoning is though I have never had a wing problem, 22% protein from the starter could cause one. I like the Purina pellets 19% protein (still a little high) all year laying or not laying for all my birds and they are affordably but I supplement with lots of greens. and my birds all have free choice to oyster shell

For laying season for my girls a by weekly treat of scrambled eggs with eggshell and mealworm. I put my eggshells through a coffee grinder after baking them and make a powder that mixes in well serve in a bowl of water. The amount of eggshell is dependent on there egg shells they are developing. Ducks can get to much calcium even if they are laying. Drakes should be monitored on Calcium it can screw with there health. I have never feed layer pellets sense they were mostly developed for land birds who require a higher Calcium.
Im no expert but thats my game plan. and affordable.
