Duck Laying Age?

Hi, I was wondering if ducks lay 'practice eggs' before they start laying properly?

I'm a first time keeper (chickens before) and have hatched out 8 runners from bought eggs. 5 ducklings are just under three weeks old, and the remaining three are just under 8 weeks old (1 girl, 2 boys).

These older three are in a coop and run of there own. However, when we let them out this morning there was an egg!
It's very small and soft, but otherwise a perfectly formed little duck egg.

Just wondering if it's normal? And if not I guess any ideas why?
Thanks

I wonder of maybe something else snuck in and laid it. Maybe some small reptile? A snake or a lizard?
