I am terribly sorry for your loss of your beloved pet. I feed my 8 hens a scoop of layer feed, flock raiser and scratch grains. Mine were producing some soft shelled eggs in a couple of the 6-7 eggs I sometimes get daily so I upped the layer feed and that seems to have stopped the situation. I hope that you can get another hen, it's so sad when we lose them. Mine are from ages 6 months to 6 years.
