duck laying / brooding question

how long after brooding will ducks lay again? i have one broody runner now and after hatching i want her to get back to work.

It depends -- if she hatches the eggs and you leave the ducklings with her, she probably won't lay much or at all until they are all grown up in her mind -- which might be 6 weeks or later, depending on the duck.

If she hatches the eggs and you take them away, she'll still have to get over her broody hormones, but I'd think she'd lay faster.

You can just keep taking away the eggs and hoping that she'll stop being broody . . . although, I have several chickens that spend the whole spring and summer rotating through broody / chicks / egg laying for a short time / broody again . . . they must love the mommy thing!
