Duck leg swollen at hock - help!

Sadly, there wasn't a fix. I continued to let her hobble along, but a few months down the road I found her dead one afternoon floating in the pond. I think she must of had other problems too. I never could get her to respond to any type of treatment, which is why I decided to let her play and be as happy as she could for as long as she was able.

My male duck has had swelling and heat in both leg joints for some time now and I recently spent a total of close to $1,000 taking him to 2 vets, meds, and finally U.C. Davis Veterinary Center in Davis, Calif. The antibiotics did not help at all. The U.C. Davis vet felt it was an injury some time ago and after two weeks recommended stopping the antibiotics. He eats well, he manages to get in and out of his pool and so I am just letting him be. So I would suggest letting your duck be, and perhaps doing the epsom salts soak in warm water to see if that helps.

I would apply Epsom salt compresses three times a day and apply Traumeel afterward. Time floating in a tub of lukewarm water may help also. Duckyfromoz has dealt with slipped tendons I think.

i tried googleing "Traumeel" and couldnt find it? can you help me find it?
you also recommended "Vitacost" this is what i found:

which one joint med can i use on my duck? thanks

edit to fix type-O's

Pe Kings can have this from inbreeding. They will be fine. They just are slower it'll show up now and then if purchased from private party that's not careful. Or ? Eggs are just as delicious and bring in some pecking from elsewhere I'd say

Sorry about your duck. I raised a flock buy sell ect for about six years and it's just what I've heard down the line from a hatchery and people. But could've been an injury

I still think that soaking in his bath is the best medicine for those swollen joints. The water is cool and I empty and refill it every morning. My Piotr may have slowed down quite a bit with these swollen joints, but he still manages to get around reasonably well, gets in and out of the pool, and just rests more.

If you are still on here, did your duck ever recover?
