I have read that when Ducks mate it can be painful if they aren’t in water. Is this true?
Also I just have a little baby pool. Would that work?

How big are your ducks? If he is heavier than the hen, he can hurt her legs or back with his weight, although i have not seen this in ducks, it is common with geese
Good idea. We don’t usually have coon problems here. Also they sleep in the doghouse so I don’t think coons can crawl underneath. And my boys are beautiful!!!!! I boast about them a lot. Just like a parent would with there kids. LolCan I say something here? if you are keeping them over night in this I would put hardware cloth 3' up from the ground around the whole thing a member here had one of those and raccoons reached in and pulled off their ducks heads, was not something any one wants to come out too. Beautiful drakes.
Oh, your still bringing over your Friends Hens to breed?...As I mentioned in your other thread it won't work if your planning on keeping Ducklings to breed back and also your pen is rather small as Ducks need way more room than that. Possibly why the Drakes are fighting?Well I have khaki Campbell drakes View attachment 1373495 View attachment 1373496 sorry this are bad pics.
We are going to mate then with adult pekin ducks. The Pekins are about the same size I believe.
I know. I’m getting a bigger one. And the hens will be staying!Oh, your still bringing over your Friends Hens to breed?...As I mentioned in your other thread it won't work if your planning on keeping Ducklings to breed back and also your pen is rather small as Ducks need way more room than that.
