My call duck is acting off. I brought her inside on this cold night and she was laying outside all fluffed up. I brought her inside and gave her grapes and water which she loves and is very vocal about but only drank the water. She is fluffed up and lethargic, she makes a bit of noise but not like she normal would. Her poop is very watery with some grainy consistency and she acts like she is gonna poop but doesn't ( her exit is exposed and semi open) When she lats down its a heavy breath and like she's maybe trying to get something out. What might be going on?

It sounds like she may be egg bound. I would put her in a bath for at least 30 minutea, preferably longer. Calcium gluconate is the best thing for egg bound ducks. For a 23% solution: 0.2mL/ 1lb duck twice a day orally. however other calcium options will work if you don't have any. Tums are a good option if you have nothing else. It can 24 hours for it to pass. I would keep her indoors to make sure she passes the egg.

Here is how to administer drugs orally.

Egg bound is usually cause by soft shelled eggs. Are you providing a calcium source for her, like oyster shells?

Thank you for your information! She actually layed an egg today, I was thinking that might a reason. She still has white liquid poop and opening and closing of her vent. Do you think there is more? And should I give her an Epson salt warm bath?

Was it a soft shelled egg? It is possible she is still having the same issue again. If you give her a bath, just use regular water, no epsom salt.

Does she have a calcium source? While it is important for shell formation, it is also important for proper contraction. Calcium is the most important thing to solve this issue.

Is the call duck a new layer?

The egg wasn't as soft shelled as I expected. Just the top point of the egg was the weekest part. I don't give her enough calcium source like oyster shells but will make that more available. She is 6 months old and this was her first egg. She is acting 100% herself now but I have this if it happens again but I will try and prevent that with better calcium source. Thank you again!

New layers sometimes have difficulty with laying eggs and can take a bit to start laying normally. Even with a good calcium source things happen sometimes.

That is good news that she is back to herself. Hopefully she won't have anymore issues.
