Duck not eating or moving!

Could it be bird flu? I hope not but our local farmer had that problem with his turkeys this year. Probably not as the other duckies would have it of him if that was the case and everyone else is acting normal

You can add rooster booster or nutri drench to his feed and water or give it to him by mouth we have info on giving liquid meds by mouth.

Is he pooping what does it look like pics of him would be good to post.
If you have access to a vet you might want to consider having him examined. He may have an infection going on and might need an antibiotic.

I live in England so it is night and to dark to take a photo, in the morning I will when I get up. I just gave electro lights and I saw him eating more of the soup and getting some of the food And going to the bottom of the tub to get some food and didn’t shake his head afterwards. I will ring the vet in the morning and see when we can come in but I think they are closed till 27th unless it’s an emergency. have a lovely rest of your Christmas and Thankyou for being so helpful no matter what day it is even Christmas Day❄️🎅

If you can encourage him to eat that would be good. Plus since he is sick I'd have him inside so he is warm and you can keep a better eye on him. It doesn't have to be super warm but when they are sick they can become hyperthermic.

I have put him in a warm brooding box type thing which is draft free and has a secure door with one of his friends.their is lots hay in their and his friend for compony and extra warmth. It stays very warm in their and the air temp outside the enclosure tonight should not go below 4C witch in America is 46F I think. I will call vet first thing tommorow, I do hope he will get better poor little chap.

also I first noticed this About 45hours ago but just hoped it would pass but it hasn’t, at first he was still eating just acting a bit of and then stopped eating but luckily he is eating the soup well now that I have made it more liquidy :)

I don't think so. Mallard derived duck breeds rarely show symptoms of bird flu, it doesn't affect them the same way as other birds, usually. Besides, the symptoms he is showing seem to be a different problem.

I would give him a thorough check over, for any abnormalities (swelling, cuts), checking feet for any bumps. It could potentially be an infection or pain causing him to lose his appetite. Of course this is just a guess.

The best thing you could do is find an avian or exotics vet, getting him seen soon would be best, especially if he isn't eating tomorrow. Hopefully he gets his appetite back properly soon!!

I sure hope you don't go in and mention bird flu. If like here they will kill every bird you have. Since he is drinking his feed that sounds like a good sign.

It's the same here. If one tests positive, they will cull all of them.
Best to stay quiet and tread carefully, especially in this situation where this is such an unlikely cause.

Ok so I just went down and checked on him and gave him the soup and offered some dry food as well. At first not interested in either but I sat their for about 30mins and suddenly he started eating the soup happily and even tried a small amount of the dry food, it’s still nothing like him as usually he is my greedy boy but I am pleased as he is eating better then last night. I also filled my bath with water which he could stand in as he won’t go in the pond and anyway it would be a bit too cold for a sick duck and I just splashed some water on him and he seems to be preening a tiny bit and walking round a bit more as well! But still not himself at all yet.

I have rang the vet and They are Closed today as I suspected but can see him tommorow, but if he carry’s on getting better should I still take him to the vet tommorow?
thankyou for helping me, you guys are amazing and so helpful!😀
