Hi all, I'm wondering if anyone can help me out in figuring out one of my ducks.
I have 3 Pekins that I'm fairly certain are all girls based on their incredibly loud never ending quacking. I also have one khaki Campbell that just keeps me guessing. He/she is fairly monotoned chocolatey brown slightly darker around the head, but only just. He/she has a slate colored bill, and orange legs. I've been trying to listen to this duck to see what it sounds like, and its definitely quieter than the Pekins. Its voice isn't really croaky sounding like all the recordings I can find of drakes, just quieter- almost like the sound of corderoy rubbing...a "wheep wheep". I also just noticed iridescent green feathers hiding in its wingtips.
Now, this duck definitely doesn't have the hooded look of the drake khakis I've seen in photos, but the green wing tips befuddle me.
Could it be a drake? A hen? Could it be a crossbreed?
Any guesses?

This is the only one that kind of shows that iridescent color.

I guess in the long run it doesn't matter too much because I'm fairly certain the rest are girls, but it would be nice to know.
Also they're roughly 8 weeks.

At what age would I expect to see a drake feather?
And if it is a drake would he be "interested" in the Pekins hens as they will probably be much bigger than him?

I think around 4-5 months of age you should start seeing a drake feather curling up. YES he will be interested in ANY female duck :) As far as successful mating, it should work out.

8 weeks, it sounds nothing like my Pekins, but it doesn't sound like the recordings I've heard of drakes either...

Any other thoughts? Do khakis tend to have the iridescent feathers on their wings?
Is this maybe not a khaki?
I was thinking of keeping an incubating a few eggs, but if it's already a crossbreed I don't know if I'd want to.
