19 hours but she started zipping so I did a little help and just made a hole like this , have a done right , the humidity is 70% and she is moving her beak and chirping now and againHow many hours since she pipped?
I’m not helping it now , just made it a hole because I thought it wasn’t breathing properly, will it be okay ??I wouldn't help until 24 hours or more, ducks are slower to hatch.
Check out the hatch assist articles on this site, they're very helpful.
Well she has made no progress since I opened so should I do this ? , she is still alive and very active inside the shell , chirping a lot nowIf you hear that the pips aren't as loud you may need to assist him more. Since you opened a bigger hole he could get shrink wrapped.
I did that to one of my chicks...but she was still absorbing her yolk. She partially zipped and then stopped. I almost lost her. I had to soften the membrane before I could peel it off of her. She couldn't even push out of the egg it was so tight around her.
If you need to assist, chip the egg shell right to left from where it pipped and keep an eye on the membrane. There are two layers, one around the chick and one that's attached to the egg.
You need to make sure both are softened (the outer membrane will look grayer) before you can peel the membrane.
There's you tube video from an account called "a chick called Albert" that has a great assist video. I watched his video and then found a couple more, and read the hatch assist articles here on this site. My chick is thriving!
