Duck Pond Help?

I have decided to keep Gypsy and make her my forever ducky! Well now I have a delima, as much as Gypsy loves the inground pool in our back yard shes making it dirty, so time to build her her own home. I need pond ideas and I'm also going to get her a friend eventually any help is appreciated!

Oh and for all you gushy duckie lovers out there picture of Gypsy on my tummy watching tv with her legs kicked out behind her just loving the attention!

Do you have a drain or something? I have a kiddie pool about that size for my 2 ducks and they make it FILTHY is a matter of 2-3 days. When there were 5 it was gross in one day.

(I love the ruffly one.)

I use a ball valves from the hardware store. No more lifting of the heavy kiddie pools.

You can cut it with a utility knife. Best to mark the location and cut slowly. Here are the parts:

3/4" x 1" PVC Male Adapter @ $0.77

3/4" Threated PVC Ball Valve @ $3.17

Two #11 O-Rings (3/4") @ 1.97 for 10 pieces

All pieces are available at Home Depot or other hardware stores. Make sure to cut your hole as tight as possible. Put the Male Adapter with an o-ring inside of the pool, add another o-ring outside and screw on the ball valve. No glue needed. Really simple.

You can also buy a hose adapter, which you can screw into the outer part of the ball valve. This enables you to connect a garden hose to it, so you can have the dirty water discharge anywhere in the garden.

3/4 In. x 3/4 In. MPT x MHT (Male Hose Thread) PVC Hose Thread Adapter @ $0.99

The prices given are from Home Depot. They do not include sales taxes. Take this list with you to the hardware store and have someone help you. Make sure they all screw together before you leave.

Remember to fill up your pool once and then mark the location. The pools have the tendency to pull down a little bit. Do not put it in first and then fill the pool only to find out that you are too low and the valve gets pushed up.

I got this pond at Menards... called the Key Largo... 250 gal.... it has ledges around the edges where I throw treats they can easily eat and they stand and preen .. I pull the drain and its empty in 5 min... rinse with the hose (scrub and bleach once a week) and refill.... I have a hydrant on the right end of the pond.
