we just put in a duck pond about 2 weeks ago and the water is GREEN!! from all the algee
what can we do to get rid of all the algee?? (no algee in this pic)
I haven't used bleach, but I read somewhere (I apologize that I don't remember . . . perhaps Storey's Guide or this forum) that bleach can kill gut flora and cause digestive problems. Seems to me it would depend on the concentration of bleach, but just wanted to mention the caution.
I use a 50 gallon stock tank and a couple times a week I use Oxine in the water plus every evening after everyone is closed up for the night I put the hose in the tank let the water run for any where from 15 to 20 minutes this way the water is running out of the tank and down the bank and the water has very fresh water added to it. then 1 X a week I put a cup of 35% H2O2 to the tank after it has been cleaned with running water. Today I actually drained all the water out for the first time since April. It really stays pretty clean and I have 13 ducks using it.
Yeah bleach sounds like really ad idea. looks like you have extra liner. make the pond bigger, add some tiny algae eaters, maye a small pump? bleach is just a toxic idea and to keep dumping it on the ground???
