Protecting Pond Aerator

My ducks keep knocking over the Aerator pump in their new pond. They'll all swim as fast as they can from one end of the pond to the other and the wake they leave flips the pump over. The pump's instructions say to put it on a brick so it doesn't intake sludge from the bottom of the pond but the suction cups aren't sticking to anything except the pond liner.

I'm thinking maybe I need some type of cage for the pump to give it more stability but the ones I'm seeing are cylindrical cubes that look like they would be knocked over easily.

Has anyone else had this problem and found a good fix?

I'm embarrassed to say that I have not . I'm going to go and try that now.
