I have five 3 month old ducks and I need to get a kiddie pool. Does anyone have any suggestions of where to get one? Also will they fight my chickens or do chickens and ducks get along?

We got ours years ago at Walmart.
We've had chickens and ducks in the same pen, the biggest problem is the moisture from the ducks playing in the pool or a small chick getting in and drowning. Never had trouble with them fighting.

Hello Forest,

I am new to chicken and duck raising but would love to share my experience. I have 5 (4 month old) male Indian runner ducks and 6 (4 months old) RIR hens all in the same large run (18'x20'). It is sort of in an L shape. One side is more of the duck side, with the kiddie pool and the other side for chickens, perches and nesting box area, so it is always dry.

I want to start with the pool. I went to Walmart and bought a kiddie pool, and the love it. I have it full all the time, changing the water every other day. One very important thing I do is I have a few large, tall rocks close to the sides in a couple of places. The pools are smooth and the ducks sometimes have a hard time getting out. I almost had a tragedy the other night. I changed the water in the morning, got side tracked and forgot to put the rocks back in. Luckily my son was outside and saw a duck struggling, pulled the little guy out. So put a rock, brick or some sort of a step to help them get out.

My ducks are not mean to the chickens but do push them around once in a while. Sort of like they are telling them, don't get too close.
I am in awe of the flocking instinct the boys have, almost moving as one unit. The other night, when the one got stuck in the water, he was shaken and shivering, so I dried him off, checked him over and put him in a wire pen (inside the run) for the night. The other 4 would not go in the water, would not leave him.

I love my chickens and ducks and for the most part, all of them get along pretty well.

Sorry for the rambling and Welcome.
