It is safe for humans to eat foods that aregrown in soil that has duck poop in it, correct? What about hamsters, birds, etc? Can they eat foods that were grown in soil that has duck poop?
One of the great reasons to have these critters is they are a natural source of high nitrogen fertilizer. In general it's good to let manure age before growing the plants in that soil, so I fence off the garden while its growing and after harvest let my ducks go for it. How long manure needs to age before any harmful bacteria are broken down might depend on how hot it is or other factors, I'm not really sure. I used a lot of duck manured straw bedding to mulch my veggies last spring.
I would totally expect those same vegetables would be safe for other animals.
