I have one duck that was raised with my chickens. The problem is now the rooster is pulling out the poor ducks feathers, from around his neck and back. I don't put the duck in with the chickens at night any more but in the morning the duck is pacing in front of the pen ready for the chickens to get out. Are there any solutions? Do I need to keep them separated? - The duck is male but I'm not sure the rooster knows that :)

I wish I had an answer for you. My drake drove off my second drake with similar behavior. I suspect you will have to get rid of one or the other if you don't want to lose the duck. Do you need the rooster? If I had it to do over again, I would get rid of my aggressive drake in order to keep the more submissive drake. But I never guessed the second drake would disappear as a result of the aggression.

Anyway, I wish I had better advice for you. Maybe someone will chip in and give you tips that will mean you can keep both. Good luck in any event.

My drake duckling raised with chickens was afraid of the big ducks and afraid of swimming. The roosters thought /HE/ was a chicken, therefore okay to rape (yeah seriously) and so all of those roosters then though it was okay to rape the big ducks too. Big ducks DO NOT like rooster chasing them.

We ate four of the six roosters, the duck, and gave two roosters away.
If you do eat him, make sure the pinfeathers have all come out into full-fledged feathers, or he isn't molting, or else it's impossible to get them all out.

You'll never have a normal duck or normal chickens. I've learned my lesson! DON'T brood them together!!!
It screws them up for life.

They learn to associate the other species as their own, and won't ever leave them alone.
