Duck Run Under Pine Trees?

I'm preparing to build a house on a wooded lot (acres of eastern white pine) and planning where the new duck run will be. I'd like them to have the shade of the pines and they don't seem to mind the needles when I put them in outdoor shelters. There are plenty of twigs, however, that come down from the trees and I wonder if that creates a bumblefoot risk.

Does anyone keep ducks under trees? Any problems with twigs?

If you have raccoons in your area, I would hesitate to put anything under trees unless the run encloses it. My daughter lost all her hens from raccoons dropping from branches of a tree adjacent to their run.

Hmm...yes, I think there could be raccoons. Did this happen during the daytime? I thought if I kept them well secured at night, it wouldn't be a problem, but I may have to rethink that.
