My coop is built and right now there is a very small run attached to it. We are planning to build a larger pen around the whole unit so we can get the pool in there and so that they have more space.
Right now there is just grass in the run and I kept trying to spray the poop so that it just soaked into the ground but after a few days and a few knocked over bowls of water there is just mud or maybe its just a huge amount poop in there. I tried to take it out but its barely making a dent. I think there is still some grass underneath. Should I just put some straw in the run? I have pine pellets and straw in the house for at night. The run doesn't have a solid roof, it is wire fencing. Will the straw getting wet from rain be an issue? Should I just add a tarp for now and add a roof to the larger pen we build?
