I got these two ducklings yesterday and i would like to know what they are please. I would also like some advice on taming the ducklings because they are constantly running away, we almost lost them. I would like to be able to play with them and pick them up but they are far too jumpy and afraid. Note they are 3 to 5 five weeks old, I'm not positive on the exact age.

The yellow and black one looks like my little magpie x rouen x possibly runner... yeah... she's a major mutt but cute as can be!! The other looks like it's possibly a crested khaki campbell cross. Either way, they are sweet. As for taming, I think a lot of it has to do with the breed or individual duck. If you take them out to play, stay in an area where they can't get out. Just be calm and patient. They'll come around. I know that out of my first six ducklings I had only 2 that actually didn't mind being held. Now that they're older (I got them in April I think), they're a lot friendlier. Also, introduce them to peas! That's the best thing in the world to my ducks. Buy a bag of frozen peas, defrost them, and feed. Good luck with the babies! They're so cute.

The only way you'd be able to tell now would be either vent sexing or if they have different voices (I don't remember how old it is when the girls start to quack a bit and the boys still squeak)
