For the past two nights, at about 10 pm Freddie will suddenly become unusually still and quiet, and she begins visibly contracting and releasing the muscles of her backside, with noticeable back tension. When this happens, I put her in the pool to relax her muscles, while I talk and sing to her to keep her calm. After some time, she lays an egg, but the muscle contractions continue on for about another 20 minutes or so.
She is 4 years old, a small/petite rouen, and her diet consists of Dumor all flock pellets, which I supplement with niacin (Brewer’s yeast), she gets peas and banana slices daily, and I have a little bowl of oyster shells out at all times. She also forages and loves to munch on fresh grass. I clean her pool, food bowl and water bowl daily and she has a clean and cozy environment with straw bedding. She is typically very playful and energetic, constantly swimming, foraging, running around, and chattering excitedly to me while I sit in the yard or work in the garden.
She has been egg bound once, but it was about six weeks ago. I brought her into the house so she could recover for a few days and so I could keep a closer eye on her. When she recovered and I took her back outside, my drake Amadeus tried to chase her and I immediately seperated them. They were very close before this happened, and she's been crying for him even though she can see him through the divider fence. I'm really worried that the stress of missing him could cause her to become egg bound again.
What could be wrong with my girl? I'm sorry if this is a long post, but I'm very worried about my sweet girl. Any advice would be deeply appreciated
