Thank you to everyone for your great advice. It worked!
Equiped with olive oil and scissors, I oiled my left hand and tried rubbing the tape, and thensnipping off with the scissors in my right hand the odd feather that refused to budge. I have to say the patient was fantastic! Because she was sitting on eggs she didn't move at all.
So now she is sans duct tape, possible has the odd bald patch, but seems none the worse for wear.
Again a big thank you for helping me out of a sticky situation.
